5 Summer Camp Fundraisers to Consider

School is out and summer is here. Some kids and teenagers in elementary school, middle school and high school are planning to enroll in camp this summer. Some high school and college students are planning to work as camp counselors for camps. The heat is on when it comes to fundraising and we wanted to share a list of the top 5 fundraisers to participate in at camp this summer.

Green it Up with a Clean-Up

You can organize a camp-wide clean-up at a local park, beach, or nature area. Throw away all items that are considered trash and be sure to recycle all items that need to be recycled such as clean and empty plastic bottles. You can ask for donations for the amount of trash that was picked up and/or the number of items that were recycled. This would help the community by staying clean, helping this beautiful green planet of ours, and raising funds while doing it.

Friendship Bracelets

We all make friends at summer camp, so in the spirit of friendship, campers can make bracelets out of eco-friendly and sustainable materials and sell them for donations towards their fundraiser. Not only are you making stylish bracelets in different colors and patterns for males and females to wear, but you’re also supporting a cause without harming the environment.

Meatless Cookout

Host a summer BBQ for meals to purchase that don’t include meat or dairy products. There are tons of fruits and vegetables you can BBQ and it can be prepared with sides such as hummus and vegetables, vegan potato salad, vegan macaroni salad, and more. Don’t forget about desserts such as flourless vegan brownies and strawberry citrus popsicles. You can also offer a cup of iced cold lemonade or iced tea to go with the meatless meal. All proceeds will go towards your fundraiser.

Recycling Electronics

We all have old smart cell phones, laptops, cameras, printer ink cartridges, desktop computers and monitors, televisions, ipads, MP3 players, CD players, and such that we don’t use anymore or they’re burnt out. Instead of throwing them away, create a fundraiser where people dispose of their electronics the proper way in an eco-friendly manner. You can set up a room with boxes where people can drop off their old electronics and be sure to advertise that recycling is going towards a great cause. There are many businesses that would buy these products for refurbishing or take certain parts from electronic devices.

Sneaker Drive

Spread the word and let all the campers and camp counselors know they can donate sneakers for a fundraiser. We all have sneakers we can’t fit anymore or just simply don’t want to wear anymore. Instead of throwing them away, you can get paid to recycle them. At GotSneakers, we’re making it socially and financially rewarding to contribute to a circular economy with our free sneaker recycling programs for organizations of all types and sizes just like summer camps. When you join our sneaker recycling community, you will be making a global impact and earning money for every pair of sneakers you contribute.
